Hear No Evil, See No Evil: A Day in the Life of the Deaf-Blind

March 24 | 6:00 PM | Myers Programming Room

Have you ever considered what it must be like to have to live without one of your senses? What about without two? Ms. Anne Zimmerman works at a camp for people who are both deaf and blind, and she will be talking about Deaf-Blind culture and the camps where she works. Ms. Zimmerman will also be bringing a Deaf-Blind person who can talk about his experiences and the challenges he faces. After the two presentations, residents will engage in an activity to simulate deaf-blindness, so they can understand more fully this different lifestyle.

 

Decorating Diversity

March 25 | 6:00 PM | Myers Programming Room

A program that will engage residents and allow residents to interact with each other by showing the diversity of the group through an art interactive questionnaire. Group discussion will follow activity with food.

 

A Beautiful Mind

March 25 | 8:00 PM | Libscomb Lobby

"A Beautiful Mind" is an open discussion about mental health issues, particularly those affecting college students. The program will feature both a guest speaker and a relevant Ted Talk to facilitate discussion about coping with such issues, helping others, etc.

 

Abraham Alliance Presents: Unity through a Heritage of Faith

Panel- based program meant to debunk myths and misconceptions about Muslims and Islam in general.

Share Your Story

March 28 | 4:00 PM | Russel Conference Room

We want to know what makes you who you are. In our program, we will have residents sharing their stories with the rest of the community. Willing residents will be sharing stories about what makes them who they are today. It will be held in a private area where visitors can lounge, enjoy some special sweets, and listen to fellow peer's stories. Throughout the week, we will be collecting as many stories as we can from residents. They will be written on a notecard, then plastered all over the windows. We will also have a world map and a US map where residents and visitors will be able to pin where they are from. It will be an event that all will enjoy!

 

Over the Rainbow

March 28 | 6:00 PM | Mell Hall Lobby

Panel- based program meant to debunk myths and misconceptions about Muslims and Islam in general.

 

International Feast
March 30 | 7:00 PM | 1516 Multipurpose Room

In celebration of D.A.W.G Days, 1516 is hosting an "International Feast" with the residents. Residents and staff will bring a dish that represents their respective culture, heritage, or country.
